Description

SUMMARY

Provides technical expertise in developing, modifying and maintaining computerized sub-systems of manufacturing equipment, such as PLC Ladder Logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications, Vision Inspection applications, and Motor Controllers. Provides technical expertise in designing, adjusting and repairing machinery and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Adjusts automatic and semiautomatic assembly machine units for lot production operation following

department's specifications.

• Installs, adjusts, removes and/or replaces various machine components as required.

• Develops conceptual approach to solving manufacturing problems.

• Confers with engineering and design staff to determine design modifications and enters editing

information into computer.

• Adjusts Feeder/Delivery Equipment and detection devices; regulates heat, pressure and several

types of timing control.

• Dismantles, disassembles, repairs, rebuilds and/or cleans and replaces and/or reassembles worn or

defective parts, and /or components as required. Lubricates, cleans, and makes necessary adjustments

and/or corrections on various devices.

• Consults with Manufacturing Engineering Manager for advice on major repair issues for course of

action.

• Advises Production and QA personnel of issues affecting manufacture of quality components or

finished products.

• Prepares and forwards required machine maintenance reports to immediate supervisor. Uses a variety

of small hand tools and is responsible for maintaining them in good working order.

• Instructs Automation Set-up Technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment and/or product

quality problems.

• Assists Automation Set-up Technicians and other PTS personnel by telephone during off hours.

• Instructs other technicians and production employees as requested.

• Confers with Automation Set-up Technicians to comprehend problems affecting production machinery.

• Trains Machine Operators and Automation Set-up Technicians in the proper, safe, and efficient way

to complete required tasks and ensures tasks are completed in a timely fashion.

• Responds to Corrective/Preventive Action Requests that relate to production equipment.

• Ability to get along with others, follow directions, and work well under stressful conditions.

• Ability to meet deadlines.

• Responsible for following company policies and procedures, including but not limited to, Quality

System Regulations, safety/housekeeping, and Quality Management System.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED required, with additional technical training. Two to three years experience with high speed automated equipment preferred. Electronics, pneumatics & hydraulics knowledge highly desired. Experience designing equipment. Mechanical experience with gearboxes, motors, fuel systems, brakes, a plus.
