Quality Engineer

Assists in establishing and implementing preventative measures that will ensure conformance with the Company’s quality goals. Interacts with customers to understand their needs and expectations in terms of quality-related initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A summary of the essential functions of the position includes but are not limited to the following:

1. Develops, implements, and documents quality measures.

2. Initiates statistical study, and interfaces with various departments, customers, and suppliers to ensure conformance with quality initiatives.

3. Assists in the implementation and use of control charts and other statistical tools.

4. Recommends corrective action procedures by implementing problem solving tools to resolve quality issues.

5. Assists in layout of fixtures, molds and tooling, ensuring that cost is minimized while quality is maximized.

6. Assists in design and control of manuals, standards, procedures, work instructions and other forms of documentation that must meet the requirements of ISO/TS 16949.

7. Participates in or leads audit teams for the purpose of system surveillance and the identification of needs for corrective action.

8. May travel to customer and supplier sites to resolve quality issues.

9. PPAP Submissions

10. Establish and maintain APQP documentation

11. Participate in or leads quality improvement teams based on Product audit results and other initiatives as defined by management.

12. Participates in our leads responses to CAR requests issued to the Quality Department.

13. Participates in or leads warranty claims analysis team

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education:

A.A.S. Degree or equivalent required; B.S. Degree highly preferred.

Minimum of two year’s related work experience required.

Proficiency in the use of a personal computer is necessary, including working knowledge of wordprocessing, spreadsheet, and statistical software and CMM inspection software. (CMM experience is a MUST)

blueprint reading and GD&T. .

B. Experience:

This position requires a minimum of twelve months’ training to become proficient in all phases of the job.

This position requires extensive skills in problem solving, analysis, prioritization, discretionary judgment, verbal and written communications and interpersonal relations.

EFFORT

Physical Demand – Physical demands vary considerably depending on the function being performed. Ability to move about among departments is necessary 40% of the time.

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling and crouching activities are necessary.

 Frequent meetings and consultations require an extensive amount of talking and listening to perform this job.

Mental and/or Visual Demand –

Continuous mental and visual attention, including color vision are needed while carrying out all duties of this position.

Responsibilities – Responsible for own work. Coordinates extensively with coworkers among various departments, as well as with customers and suppliers.
